A driver ended up in the Hood River Wednesday, authorities said. Around 6:49 p.m., Hood River City police handled a crash involving a white Subaru that drove off an embankment and into the river near Dock Road and Interstate 84 milepost 64. Sgt. Pete Hughes with Hood River County Sheriff’s Office said a fisherman parked the car at the History Museum. A man tried stealing the vehicle but ultimately drove into the river. The suspect driver was arrested on charges of theft and driving under the influence of intoxicants. The car spent at least one night in the water. As of Thursday, a tow company was working a on a plan to remove the vehicle.
