HOOD RIVER — Though Hood River isn’t quite the runways of NYC or Paris, there is not a lack of local artisans creating incredible work.
In the world of fashion, permanent jewelry has been all the rage recently, and the new Jewelry by Cari pop-up running this July is offering a permanent bracelet experience at their storefront at 315 Oak St. in Hood River. With a wide variety of chain options and charms, and with silver bracelets at $20, this experience is “accessible” and “customizable.”
Bracelets can be made permanent with a small, welded join, or removable with a clasp. The process is fast, easy, and fun, and great for “mothers and daughters, groups of friends, and locals that have visitors from out-of-town.”
After being featured in “Transformers,” “Leverage,” and San Fransisco Fashion Week, Jewelry by Cari has been steadily producing hand-crafted, customizable pieces including charm bracelets, and necklaces that have been sold in stores locally, and across the country as well as trunk shows in places like Hawaii and New York.
With their new pop-up storefront, this husband-and-wife team said they are excited to be able to work in-person with regulars, and customers that are drawn in by their display.
Cari Streeter says that it’s “really rewarding for us to make people happy with our jewelry,” and that she loves the hands-on experience she can provide.
Their designs are guided by their unique jewelry-making process that begins with Streeter creating the design with clay before passing it to husband Rory Streeter who does the metal smithing. Streeter says that she creates her designs by iterating on her roots, and by “working back and forth with what [customers] want within our own style.”
Streeter has enjoyed this experience and location so much that Jewelry by Cari is looking at extending this location to September.
