Six injury crash reports. In one incident, a 66-year-old Centerville driver was getting onto the freeway westbound from Biggs when their Dodge pickup slid on the icy roads. The vehicle went towards the median and the driver over-corrected. The vehicle fishtailed back and forth, then slid off the road into the snow and rolled onto its top. Both driver and passenger were correctly belted. Both occupants and their dog were transported by ambulance to an area hospital, treated and released. The vehicle was towed. In a separate incident, a gray Nissan Frontier was northbound and lost control on the icy roadway. The driver over-corrected and the back end of the pickup slid into the southbound lane of travel, where it was struck by a gray Honda Pilot. The Nissan came to an uncontrolled stop blocking the northbound lane, and the Honda was able to stop on the shoulder nearby. Both drivers had minor injuries, with the driver of the Nissan being transported to an area hospital. Both vehicles were towed. In a third incident, troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on I-84 near milepost 77. A Subaru Impreza was traveling behind a commercial vehicle. Another commercial vehicle passed them in the left lane, blowing snow into the Impreza’s windshield. The Impreza, temporarily blinded, tried to stop but slid on ice and hit the truck in front. The Impreza’s passenger sustained a broken arm, and the driver suspected minor injuries. Both were transported to an area hospital, and the Impreza towed.
Four non-injury crashes. In one incident, 67-year-old driver in the process of moving to Prineville was southbound on US 197, when the small utility trailer they were towing slid on the icy roads and went into the snow, pulling the truck toward the ditch. The operator over-corrected and both vehicles went across both lanes, struck a reflector, then went off the road into the snow.
