Hood River Police, Feb. 4 - 10
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Charges not listed in log (one), detainer (one), domestic assault (one), DUII (two), interfering with making a police report (one), theft (three), trespass (three), warrant (one).
Notable incidents
Three DUII arrests. In one incident, a person was lodged at NORCOR on charges of distributing possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and DUII — controlled substance. Other charges for consideration will be felon in possession of a restricted weapon, and unlawful possession of heroin. In the same incident, another individual was released from the scene, with the possibility of being charged at a later date.
One shoplifting report.
In one incident of assault, a transient person assaulted another transient person on Feb. 4, allegedly throwing them down and punching them multiple times. The aggressor then destroyed some of the other person’s property with a large machete. The suspect was located, arrested on multiple charges, and lodged in NORCOR.
Officers assisted OSP with a wrong-way driver on Feb. 5.
A person was placed on a Police Officer Hold.
The Dalles Police, Feb. 9 - 16
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Burglary (one), criminal mischief (one), DUII (one), harassment (one), menacing (one), possession of methamphetamine (one), parole/probation violation (four), resisting arrest (one), theft (one), trespass (six), warrant (six).
Notable incidents
Six trespass arrests. In one incident, an individual was arrested and lodged at NORCOR for trespass after allegedly attempting to enter a private residence.
One theft arrest. An individual was booked and lodged for theft after officers recognized them in a video of a theft from a business.
Twenty animal calls. Dogs at large, alleged theft of dog, welfare checks on dogs, barking dogs, allegedly stolen dog.
Ten theft reports. Video games from a Seventh Street business, gas can, three paddleboards, 11 pallets from behind a Sixth Street store, merchandise including $99.99 in flowers from a local business (two incidents), stolen gun. In one incident, a couple’s tent from The Dalles, gray Toyota pickup.
Eight mental health calls.
Five vehicle crashes. In one incident, a motorcycle versus car crash took place on Cherry Heights Road Feb. 9. Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue and Wasco County deputies also responded. The SUV allegedly failed to yield to the motorcycle. Two ambulances were requested; both motorcycle riders were taken to an area hospital. The SUV was towed for a flat tire. In another incident, a two-vehicle crash occurred on Sixth Street on Feb. 15. In another incident, an SUV-type vehicle ran a reporting party off the roadway near Columbia and River roads, allegedly while speeding. Officers attempting to locate the vehicle noted many oil patches in the road. The driver, when found, received two citations.
Four burglary reports. In one incident someone broke into machines at a Sixth Street business and stole “$1,000s of dollars worth” of quarters and several tools. Hood River Police received a suspicious call regarding people cashing $500 worth of coins. A person was arrested on a warrant, and an officer obtained evidence of the break-in. In another incident, a bike was burgled from a garage. In another incident, a Seventh Street shop was broken into, a door damaged and welders, air compressors and tools taken. In another incident, a cold burglary of a Bret Clodfelter Way business was reported on Feb. 12. A window was broken, lottery equipment destroyed, and an ATM stolen.
A stolen vehicle was repossessed on Tenth.
A reporting party found an old .22 gun, with the clip still in it, scuba diving near Boat Basin Road. They called in and gave it to an officer.
One hit and run report. Persons unknown dented a fender on Twelfth.
One criminal mischief report. Damaged fence.
One burglary report.
One fraud report.
Wasco County Sheriff, Feb. 9 - 16

Fourteen animal calls. Animals at large, allegedly aggressive dog, dog welfare check, dog attacking sheep, orange cat “bothering” dog which the reporting was desirous of “taking out,” missing dog.
Oregon State Police, Feb. 9 - 16

Notable incidents
Four non-injury vehicle crashes. In one incident, an eastbound driver on the Biggs-Rufus Highway lost control after driving onto the soft dirt shoulder. They corrected back on to the roadway before spinning and sliding back onto the shoulder, striking a rock, and came to rest blocking the eastbound lane. The vehicle was towed. In other incidents, OSP responded to several commercial vehicles that rolled due to adverse weather conditions Feb. 15. One lost control due to ice on US-97, sliding and rolling on the east side of the roadway, and was towed. In another, a secondary crash resulted in a commercial truck jack-knifing and striking another commercial truck. They became entangled, blocked the road, and were towed.
A driver was cited for driving with a forged temporary vehicle registration and an unlawful firearm.
An OSP trooper heard The Dalles Police get dispatched to an overdose call. The trooper responded, found the overdosing person unconscious and unresponsive, and administered narcan. The person revived momentarily, and was transported by medics.
One injury vehicle crash. OSP and Gilliam County sheriff deputies responded to a multi-vehicle crash in both eastbound and westbound lanes of I-84, near milepost 138 Feb. 16. About six commercial vehicles and one passenger car were involved; one driver was transported to an area hospital. The vehicles were recovered and removed by a towing company.
