Respirator fit testing —Hood River Soil and Water Conservation District hosts a respirator fit testing for pesticide applicators in English and Spanish Feb. 12-14, free to the agricultural community. The tests are in partnership with Providence Hospital, One Community Health, and Skyline Hospital. Medical staff will review the medical questionnaires (sent at sign-up), then provide an OSHA certified respirator fit test with participants and their respirators. Alkaline batteries — Alkaline batteries can now go in the trash, according to Tri-County Hazardous Waste and Recycling. Lithium, Ni-Cad,and lead-acid batteries are hazardous waste and need to be disposed of properly by bringing them to either Hood River Garbage or The Dalles Disposal year-round for free disposal during business hours.
