For years, Nairobi was the place travelers slept before the real trip began. They landed late, checked into a hotel and were gone by dawn toward the Mara or Amboseli, the city nothing more than headlights on the way to the bush; the safari was the only story anyone came to tell. That is changing at the table, as Nairobi turns into a stop worth building a night around before the safari begins, a city to arrive in hungry rather than pass straight through.
