COTTONWOOD, Idaho — The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office says a wanted man was taken into custody after a standoff in Cottonwood on Sunday, Oct. 5.
Deputies responded around 5:00 p.m. after receiving information that the man, wanted out of Washington, was in the area. They found him barricaded inside a camper on Church Street.
Because of the risk, the Idaho State Police SWAT team was called in to help. During attempts to contact him, the man injured himself and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Cottonwood before being flown to Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene for further care.
The suspect, identified as Eric Wright, 42, of Kalispell, Montana, was wanted on multiple felony warrants from Whitman County, Washington. No officers were hurt.
The sheriff’s office thanked the Idaho State Police, Cottonwood Police, the City of Cottonwood, St. Mary’s Hospital and Ambulance, Life Flight, and the FBI for their help. The case remains under investigation.
