BINGEN — The first Mother/Daughter STEM Fair is organized by Gorge Women in STEM (GWIS), and will take place Thursday, July 25, 4 p.m. in Daubenspeck Park. The fair is free and open to all.
The family-friendly event aims to celebrate and inspire the next generation of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through hands-on, interactive activities, according to a press release.
It lets families to explore the wonders of STEM together, encouraging a love for science and innovation. A variety of Make-n-Take activities are designed to spark curiosity and creativity — for example:
Build and race your very own balloon-powered car, learning about basic principles of physics and engineering.
Assemble your own LED flashlight and discover the science behind light and circuits.
Use 3D printing technology to design and print personalized objects.
Unleash your imagination with classic LEGO and DUPLO building activities.
More fun, educational activities highlighting the diverse fields in STEM.
GWIS is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for women and girls to explore STEM fields. The Fair is for hands-on learning and engagement in a relaxed outdoor setting. People are encouraged to bring picnic blankets or chairs to enjoy the park’s natural beauty.
GWIS is a nonprofit dedicated to promoting and supporting women and girls in STEM fields in the Columbia Gorge region. Through workshops, events, and mentorship programs, GWIS aims to empower the next generation of female scientists, engineers, and innovators.
