THE GORGE — A small group of private music teachers, part of the Mid-Columbia Music Teachers’ Association, teach private lessons in piano, violin, cello and voice to children through adult students throughout the Gorge area.
The MCMTA has been serving the Mid-Columbia area for more than 50 years. All teachers in the group are part of the Oregon Federation of Music Clubs (OFMC), and some are members of Oregon Music Teachers’ Association (OMTA) and National Association of Teachers’ of Singing (NATS).

“We, as a group, are privileged to teach in the Mid-Columbia area,” said member Shawn Lutz, Lutz Music Studio, The Dalles, in a press release. “All teachers have a degree in music with ongoing education, although that is not a requirement.”
Since January, MCMTA has hosted a Baroque Festival, OFMC Junior Festival and Piano Masterclass, as well as performing at the Veteran’s Home and various studio recitals.
The MCMTA is always looking for other private music teachers to join. If interested, email Rebecca Gooch at mid-columbia@oregonmta.org.
