Dr. “Mel” Riter is a Board-Certified medical dermatologist who worked with OHSU/MCMC from 2013-2019. She is thrilled to return to her chosen home of Hood River, after practicing in Sandpoint, Idaho, and Bend, Oregon.
Dr. Riter grew up in Colorado, studying physical sciences at Colorado College. She then took eight years to complete both her medical and her research doctorate at the University of Colorado, focusing on tissue engineering and wound healing. After a medical internship at Stanford University, she completed Dermatology residency at OHSU. She continues to collaborate with OHSU on projects to help residents of rural and underserved communities gain access to dermatology specialty care. She is passionate about improving health care delivery by focusing on the wellness of both healthcare providers and patients.
Dr. Riter has traveled widely with her puppy Rivet, and loves to talk about travel, pets, books, and family.
Dr. Riter is joining Hood River Dermatology (Luke Sloan MD, Aaron Loyd MD, Melissa Arndt PA-C, Victoria Hopkins PA-C, and Jessica Sanderson PA-C).
