The public charter school in Mosier is hosting its annual fundraiser event, called Made for Mosier, on April 9. After several years of hosting the event at Springhouse Cellars in Hood River, it was time to find a bigger space to hold one of the most popular fundraisers in the Gorge.
The organizers found the new Fort Dalles Readiness Center in The Dalles to be just the space, with sweeping views of the town and river and plenty of space for eating, an expansive silent auction, and a dance floor.
Mosier Community School is a K-8th grade charter school with just over 220 students from Mosier, The Dalles, Rowena, and Hood River in attendance.
As a charter school, it receives 70 percent of its annual funding from state and county governments and must raise the rest throughout the year. “Made for Mosier is our most important fundraiser of the year and we count on it for keeping our doors open”, said Executive Director Brian Schimel.
Mosier School is also the longest operating school in the North Wasco School District, 95 years to be exact.
Made for Mosier art auction will be held at the Fort Dalles Readiness Center up on the community college campus above The Dalles, from 5:30 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 9. It costs $5 to enter or $25 for entry plus dinner from Cowboy Catering and a drink if you pre-purchase your tickets.
