Last week’s History Mystery showed Montgomery Ward store, taken downtown The Dalles on June 4, 1956. The store still stands on the corner of Second and Laughlin streets, currently housing Pioneer Appliances. It’s also the I.O.O.F. building. The original Montgomery Ward company was first a mail-order business, later a department store, between 1872 and 2001.
