Original message: Emergency crews have ordered Highway 35 closed in the mid valley due to an ammonia leak at a fruit packing house at 2135 Highway 35. Highway 35 is closed between Paasch Road and Dethman Ridge Road, along with all of Van Horn Drive and Mason Road. Motorists should avoid the Pine Grove-Odell area. The leak was reported at about 2 p.m. The Hood River County Sheriff's Office and Wy'East Fire District have responded and are requesting additional resources. The Hood River County School District has been notified concerning bus routes. Everyone on Van Horn is being evacuated, 2:34 p.m.
