HOOD RIVER — “I have always had a heart for service,” said Hood River’s Rachel Moore-Beitler, licensed acupuncturist and owner of Five-Elements Acupuncture in the Heights. “In these difficult times, it’s an honor to be a small-town acupuncturist and support my community.”
Moore Beitler has served the Gorge for more than a decade, supporting her clients with “the ancient art of acupuncture.” Both of her parents were social workers, and she followed in their service-oriented footsteps, first working at an Americorps homeless shelter, and then through studying acupuncture as her mother had done as well.
In fact, it was watching her mother learn and refine her practice that originally inspired Moore-Beitler to pursue acupuncture.
“Qi energy moves like rivers in the body,” said Moore-Beitler, “I use diagnostic signs to figure out where there is a blockage in the flow that is causing the symptoms and discomfort in their system.”
She’s also the only acupuncturist in the Gorge that uses the five-element method, which gently inserts and immediately removes needles, making the process more interactive.
“There’s no napping!” she exclaimed.
Appointments will begin with a check-in where clients share where they’re feeling stuck, and Moore-Beitler will collaborate with them to craft a treatment of specific acupuncture points to offer some relief, both physically and emotionally.
“A large portion of my clients are parents and caregivers that like having me on their care team to give them regular, restorative tuneups,” said Moore-Beitler, a mother herself who put her initial plans for opening her acupuncture practice on hold when she adopted her child a decade ago.
“It has been an adventure learning how to grow as both a parent and a practitioner,” she said, explaining that she became a new mom and a new acupuncturist in the same year.
Appointments are available every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday in the Heights.
“Whether dealing with chronic pain, anxiety, or simply seeking to improve your overall health, regular sessions at Five Element Acupuncture are a lovely addition to your wellness care throughout the seasons,” said Moore-Beitler. She spoke about taking a holistic approach with clients and brainstorming lifestyle changes as well as treatment plans to “create more simplicity and peace for their everyday lives.”
