Here’s a fun event you might want to mark on your calendar. The Glenwood Women’s Club will once again host the community Easter Egg Hunt at the county park in Pine Vista on Saturday, April 4, starting at 10:00 a.m. This year members of the Mt. Adams Community 4-H club have volunteered to help the Women’s Club help prepare the park for the Easter Bunny arrival and hiding the eggs. The park will be sectioned off by age groups. I’ll share more information on age groups. Please watch for posters in the Glenwood businesses and the post office.

Last fall some of the Glenwood High School students joined with students from other local high schools to tour colleges from Central Washington over to the west side of the state. It was a very informative field trip for our students as they decide which college or university might best suit their post high school education needs.
This spring it was a tour of various colleges that offer great Career Technical Education (CTE) and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) pathways. Mrs. McLaughlin, the Glenwood school counselor, provided a recap of the trip, with Glenwood students joining students from Klickitat, Lyle, and Wishram. On Day 1, they toured the Tongue Point Job Corps campus in Astoria and enjoyed lunch on campus. Job Corp provides CTE in several trades for ages 16 through 24 at no cost to the students. After the tour, the students enjoyed some bowling in the evening.
On Day 2, students explored CTE programs at Lower Columbia College and STEM pathways at the Washington State University Vancouver Campus. It was a very successful trip for the four high schools, while opening the doorways for our rural students and their post-secondary careers and pathways. Mrs. McLaughlin noted that the students were very well behaved and polite on this trip, and left a very favorable impression with those giving the tours to our students.

Here’s more very important school information for those who have not yet heard. The following message was sent by the Glenwood School interim superintendent, Dr. Jerry Lewis.
“Glenwood School District Staff, Families, and Community,
On behalf of the School District, I would like to share some changes that will happen next school year regarding the administrative structure. Because the skill set for a principal and superintendent are very different, the district will change to a full-time principal and a very part-time superintendent. This is the model that most small districts have adopted. The full-time principal position will be posted this Friday, March 6 and applications will be due April 6. Applications will be screened during April 7–10 and interviews will happen during the weeks of April 13-17 or 27-30. We will share updates as the process moves forward.
Thank you,
Dr. Jerry Lewis, Interim Superintendent”

And since there has been a lot of speculation and questions regarding the Glenwood school discussed on Facebook lately, I urge everyone with questions or comments to contact Dr. Lewis at the school to learn what the facts are and what the future holds for our school. We also encourage all community members to attend the monthly school board meetings which are held the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the school library. The March meeting will take place on the 19th.
Next week Glenwood School will be on spring break. There may be kids riding bikes and walking around town so use caution as you drive through. We hope the students and staff have a very enjoyable spring break before they return to really make that drive to the end of the school year.
