No Sweat Auditions
On Sunday, Nov. 5, The Dalles Civic Auditorium will be hosting a three-hour theater workshop for kids ages 8-13. Titled “No Sweat Auditions,” the workshop will aim to help students develop performance skills, such as stage presence, public speaking, music and movement, memorization and basic acting skills.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothes, and attending comes with no commitment to audition or participate in other programs.
The event will take place from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at The Dalles Civic Auditorium, 323 E. Fourth St. in The Dalles. The workshop costs $20 per child, and includes a meal. To register, call or text Gail Farris at 360-880-6642. Registration is required and the cutoff is Nov. 4.
The Lower Columbia Presentation
Mike Ballinger will give a presentation on a self-supported nine day paddle to Astoria taken in Sept. 2023. The presentation will be hosted at The Dalles Public Library, 722 Court Street, starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8.
Annual Watershed Group Celebration
On Nov. 9, the Watershed Group will gather at The Ruins in downtown Hood River from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. to celebrate the Hood River Watershed.
This celebration occurs every year and serves as an opportunity for the community to celebrate the Hood River Watershed and its accomplishments. The 2023 celebration will feature short films and presentations showcasing recent projects, with several raffle opportunities.
Patricia Robles will be present, serving her famous tacos, with dessert to follow. The Ruins will provide beer and wine for purchase, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for free.
Tickets are $45 and include dinner, dessert and one $5 raffle ticket.
America’s Extension Service Presentation
The Columbia Gorge Genealogical Society will present “America’s Extension Service,” a presentation on the history of Extension Service and its collateral organizations. It will be hosted via zoom at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11. Attendees can register for free at gorgegen.blogspot.com.
Columbia Grange 87 Birthday Party
Columbia Grange 87, located in Lyle, will be celebrating its 134th birthday on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. This is Washington State’s oldest, continually used Grange Hall. Join fellow grangers and community members of all ages at the Grange Hall on No. 5 Columbia Grange Road off Old Hwy. 8 above Lyle. There will be birthday cake, ice cream, a short video presentation, ping pong table games and a Pie Auction to help with the historic Grange Hall’s maintenance upkeeps. Bring a pie to donate to the Pie Auction, take another home with the highest bid.
