CL Port hosts Aug. 29 Bridge of the Gods walk

The Port of Cascade Locks will again partner with the Pacific Crest Trail Association (PCTA) and the Friends of the Columbia Gorge to host a free Community Bridge Walk on the Bridge of the Gods on Aug. 29, at 8:30 a.m. This man had the bridge all to himself just before the last pedestrian-only use of the bridge, the Aug. 15 Bridge of the Gods 10K/Half-Marathon. Anyone may stroll the Bridge of the Gods, though dogs are prohibited (their paws can get caught in the bridge deck grates – inset) and it is not recommended for young children. The bridge will be temporarily closed to cars and the standard pedestrian toll will be waived. Participants should gather in Toll Booth Park across from Bridgeside Restaurant (formerly Char Burger).
