The Dalles — Winter weather and related safety concerns and delivery delays, have postponed the 2024 Distinguished Citizens Award Banquet, The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Highstreet Insurance & Financial Services, has announced. The banquet was originally scheduled for Jan. 18.
“Due to the impending severe weather conditions, including ice and snow, which pose a risk to the safety and convenience of our attendees, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the event,” read a press release.
“Our Board of Directors have unanimously agreed on this decision, emphasizing the importance of safety and the challenges posed by the weather. The safety and well-being of our honored guests, attendees, vendors, and staff are our top priority. Unfortunately, severe weather conditions, including a freeway closure, have caused delays in the transportation of essential food and supplies for the event. As a result, we have no choice but to postpone this community event to a later date,” it continued.
“We understand the importance of this event and deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our guests and attendees.” The chamber and High Street are working to secure a new date. Tickets and reservations already purchased will be honored for the rescheduled event.
