Centennial tops HRV in straight sets

With seven games remaining on its 16-game league schedule, HRV is still within reach of qualifying for the state playoffs. The Eagles finished lasts week in seventh place in the nine-team NWOC standings; the top four squads automatically advance to the 5A state playoffs beginning Nov. 2.

HRV trails the sixth place Putnam High Kingsmen (4-6 NWOC, 6-14 overall) and fifth place Milwaukie (5-4 NWOC, 6-5 overall). The Eagles demonstrated they can compete for a top four position in league as they won 3-1 over Milwaukie at home on Sept. 24. The Eagles have an opportunity to get a win to improve their record when they play Oct. 9 at 6:45 p.m. at home against Parkrose (1-8 NWOC, 1-14 overall).
