I am a fifth generation Hood River County native and have devoted my adult life to serving our community. I attended HRC public schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. While at HRVHS, I joined the Student Fire Firefighter Club and quickly realized a passion for service. After graduating in 2005, I served with the West Side Fire Department as a volunteer Firefighter and EMT. I have two children attending HRC Schools and I’m actively involved with PTO. My experience with the school district and dedication to service ultimately inspired me to seek involvement on a higher level...

My inspiration remains the same as the first time I ran: To do my part to ensure that every single child in our county receives an education that will allow them to grow, succeed, and continue on the path they choose. It has been a privilege to serve on the HRCSD Board of Directors for the last eight years. I am so proud of our community’s tradition of supporting our public schools, a tradition I feel I’ve continued to uphold during my tenure. I am dedicated to continuing to expand opportunities for our kids.

I became a member of the school board in 2016, because of how my job and volunteer efforts intersected. As one of the pediatricians in the area, I have a unique population of patients who are students. I have been an active volunteer in the community and through the school district in PTOs, coaching, and mentoring activities. The intersection of those interests was the school board. I have learned a lot and I have been an advocate for all students. I am proud our commitment to low class sizes, increasing staff, increasing mental health resources, and maintaining a healthy budget.

I have more than 11 years of experience as a volunteer and coach in the Hood River Valley, including roles on the Parkdale Elementary School Site Council and the HRCSD Boundary Committee. It has been a privilege serving the families and kids in our communities. I always strive to bring my best to each role through adaptive coaching, problem solving, collaboration, and advocating for kids. I would like to continue to serve our amazing community on the HRCSD Board of Directors, representing the best interests of all the students in our school district.

As a parent who has went through the school system with my children, from K-12 I have seen many things. I would love for things to be more transparent and open/better communication for those who have entrusted the public school system with their most precious gifts (children). I have recently started volunteering at the Parkdale Elementary School in the SMART reading program. I have found it very inspiring. There is no doubt the kids are eager to learn.
