Hood River County will be holding a trail work party March 29 to begin construction of the Pinemont Loop Connector. The goal of this project is to construct the final section of trail #310 so the Pinemont Loop Trail will finally be completed. All users are encouraged to come help make this happen.
In 2007 Hood River County administered a grant from Oregon Parks and Recreation Department for the development of the Pinemont Staging Area and an 11-mile motorcycle loop trail that was accessible from the staging area. One section of the loop trail was never constructed due to time constraints. As a result, a long section of the existing Surveyors Ridge Trail was used as a temporary connection for the loop.
This section of Surveyors Ridge Trail is partially a rocked forest road and the remainder is an existing skid road. The County has had plans to complete the loop since the grant ended but it was only recently that a workable route was found that could reasonably make the connection.
On-the-ground flagging for the route is in place and will be assessed by Forestry staff and the public to ensure it meets required standards. This walk-through of the flagged route will be advertised very soon.
The County’s OHV staff will lead a series of work parties until this connector project is complete. This project has the potential to generate tons of volunteer work party hours that can be used to satisfy some of the in-kind match requirements for the County’s current motorized trail grant.
In the end this project will make the Pinemont Loop Trail one of the most prized motorcycle experiences in Hood River County.
Date: Saturday March 29, rain or shine
Time: Everyone will depart from the meeting location to the work site at 9 a.m. The work party will end at approximately 12:30 p.m.
Where: Meet at the Pinemont Staging Area. Signs and flagging directing folks to the work location will be in place for any who may arrive late.

Tools: Hand tools will be provided but you are welcome to bring tools of your own.
Bring: Coffee, work clothes, rain gear (just in case), work gloves, sturdy boots, safety glasses, hat, water, lunch/snacks, etc. Be prepared for some hard work, some easy work, and lots of fun.
Volunteer hours: Your volunteer hours will be documented and will help satisfy requirements for the County’s current Oregon Parks and Recreation Department ATV Operations and Maintenance grant. This will be a huge help for Hood River County.

n From I-84 eastbound take exit 64. Turn right onto White Salmon Highway (Hood River Bridge Road). Immediately follow the road through a right turn officially onto US-30/OR-35. Pinemont is located off Highway 35 10.4 miles south of Hood River. Make a left turn onto Pinemont Road (N-17) and drive for 1.3 miles. Pinemont Staging Area is on the right-hand side of the road.
