Among the roles to be cast are Dorothy, Toto, the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, The Professor/Wizard, the Green Guard, Glinda the Good Witch, the Wicked Witch, Mayor Munchkin, Farmer Munchkin, the Munchkins, the Winkies, the Magicians and the Fierce and Ferocious Flowers.
Some students will begin learning their parts in rehearsal as soon as auditions end and rehearsals will continue throughout the week from 2:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. each school day, with the final performances on Saturday.
Performances are free, but donations will be accepted to help fund new curtains and a sound system for the stage.

The Parkdale Home Extension Study Group will present Go Green: Growing and Enjoying Leafy Greens at the Parkdale Grange Hall on Thursday, Feb.12 at 10 a.m.
Many of us often eat lettuce, tomatoes, carrots and green beans, but how often do we include highly nutritional greens such as kale, chard, and collards in our meals?
This presentation will talk about these wonderful vegetables and how to grow them and will include recipes on how to prepare them for eating.
A potluck lunch will follow the meeting and members of the community are invited to attend.
Attendees are asked to thank the Grange for their hospitality by helping with donations of paper towels, toilet paper, Dawn dish soap, regular or decaf coffee or scrubber sponges.
If you were unable to attend last month’s combined Home Extension Study Group’s panel presentation on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, but are interested in seeing it, you can now see it online.
John Hardham of Light Wave Communications recorded the 1:20 presentation and has made it available to view online at youtu.be/3QBGYYJp0TU.
Lauren Kraemer, OSU Extension Family and Community Health Agent for Hood River and Wasco counties, moderated the panel of representatives from Oregon State Police, Victims’ Assistance Program, Department of Human Services and Helping Hands Against Violence.
“I know personally this program touched some lives,” said Parkdale Home Extension member Joanne Ehl. “After the program a mother and grandmother came up to me and thanked us for putting on the program and said, ‘We want you to know you have saved five lives.’ She listed the children’s ages and all I remember is 18 months. This really touched my heart.”

If you happen to see this nice young man around Parkdale and the valley, or at Hood River Valley High, I invite you to show him what a wonderful community we have by saying hello and welcoming him to America and our little slice of heaven.
