HOOD RIVER — The Gorge community is invited to meet and greet Rev. Barbara Prose as she delivers her first sermon as minister of the Mid-Columbia Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (MCUUF) on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. at The Rockford Grange.
Prose’s message Sunday is entitled, “An Acceleration of Calling.”
“One way to face the terrible uncertainties of our times is to look within to find the natural gifts we have to offer,” she said. “What spark have you long denied, avoided or ignored? How do your talents meet the world’s needs today? There may be no more important question to ponder, so I look forward to meeting you on Sunday morning, Oct. 13."
Prose served the All Souls Unitarian Church of Tulsa Oklahoma from 2010-2023. As the executive minister of this 2,000 member congregation (one of the largest UU churches in the United States), she led a staff of 20 or more.
Prose continues to serve as executive director of the Portland-based Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice (IMIrJ). The MCUUF Board of Trustees looks forward to supporting Prose as she continues to lead IMIrJ’s programs and begins her ministry with here in the Columbia Gorge.
The Mid-Columbia UU Fellowship has served Klickitat, Skamania, Wasco and Hood River counties for more than 40 years. The congregation’s motto is “Open Minds, Loving Hearts and Helping Hands.” Members are engaged in all areas of community life including education, government, business, health care, environmental and social justice programs, and peacemaking.
