In the Monday Night Industrial Bowling League at Hood River’s Orchard Lanes, it’s a three-team race for first with just two weeks to go in the second round.
The Rollers (Jesse Orr, Paul Dethman, and Kevin Harris) are in first place with 119 points. Randy’s Painting is in second place with 116.5 points and Pat’s Pro Shop is in third with 112 points. Any one of these three teams can win the second round, but in two weeks there will be a critical match between The Rollers and Randy’s Painting which may be the decider. If they knock each other off, then Pat’s Pro Shop could sneak by and take all the marbles.
These top three teams earned their leading positions due to the outcome of last week’s matches: Randy’s Painting put some heavy sandpaper to Clear Cutters, sand blasting them 24-1 behind Albert Frelix’s nifty 641 three gamer and boss-man sponsor Randy Nieto, who also roughed up the sticks with a semi-glossy 645 set; Pat’s Pro Shop got the best of Orchard Lanes 17-8 as Joey Sheirbon punched out a 640 series and Patrick Olson rode a big 278 game to a 641 set for the pro shoppers; and Team 2 lost to The Rollers 16-9 even though lanky Matt Hodges did his best for the losers with a 232 game.

Patrick Olson: 278

Currently it’s a toss-up for first in the second half of the Tuesday Night Mixed League as the top seven teams are separated by only three wins. There are still five 5 weeks to go in the second half so any of these teams can get hot and win it all.
Here’s one way to do it, first-half winners: Mad Skilz continued their winning way by recruiting super sub Joe Griffith for last week’s match against Taco Tuesday and they weren’t very nice about it. The Skilz crew swept the taco gang 4-0 mainly because Mr. Griffith bowled a whopping 172 pins over his average, which was the top individual performance on the lanes last week. That makes Joe the Bowler of the Week!

It’s early in the second half of the Wednesday Afternnoon Senior Colts and Fillies League, but Skamaniacs (Karen Baumsteiger, Janet Harrington, and Dave Baumsteiger) are currently in first place with 13 wins. There are still 11 weeks to go in the second half, so every team in the league is still in it to win it.
Skamaniacs padded their first-place lead last week by silencing the snap, crackle, and pop of the Rice Krispies crew three games to one. Dave Baumsteiger led the maniacs with a 202 game even though Lynn Spellman tried to hold up his cereal gang with a 214 game, which was good but just not enough.

Lynn Spellman: 214
Dave Baumsteiger: 202

Vegas odds for a win are 100% on the powerful Bloom Auto Body team (Jeremy Bloom, Mark Chabotte, and Bryan Mason) with only one week to go in the second round of the hot-shot Wednesday Night Fraternal League. The bondo specialists have an almost insurmountable 21.5-point lead over Hood River Athletic Club. Bloomers have 164.5 points whereas HR Athletic Club has 143 points.
But — and this is a big but — this week we will have a position round on the last night of the second round that will pit Bloom Auto Body against Hood River Athletic Club. Since there is a maximum of 25 points available in each match, if the clubbers win 24 of those points in their battle against the Bloomers, they will win the second round! It’s possible but a tall order because Bloom Auto Body is one tough team!

James Youtsey: 266, 650

The Munsons (Dane Backman, Tommy Hood, and Jay Slack) are in first place in the second half of the Thursday Afternoon County League with 11 wins. Split Happens is in second with nine wins. There is still a long eight weeks to go in the second half so anything can and probably will happen. All 12 teams can still win.
But look out for the 800-pound gorilla in the room, The Incredibowls. As usual Rod Pratt led his first half winner, the formidable Incredibowls trio, to a big 4-0 sweep of Save the Pins last week. Rod fired a cool 644 series that included mighty fine 233 and 224 games. His teammate Matt Stoneberg also chipped in a nice 208 game as they took Save the Pins to the woodshed.
