LOCAL BUSINESSES not only serve the needs of their customers, but they serve the needs of their communities, as two local businesses recently illustrated. Due to the generosity of The Dalles Dollar Tree and its customers many toys, gloves, scarfs and wrapping paper were donated to The Dalles Alpha Co 3-116 Calvary for the children’s Christmas. They in turn are sharing the surplus with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates, Salvation Army and North Wasco County School District 21. Shown above left with toys is Sgt. Anthony Iven as he presents the items to Candy Armstrong D21 superintendent. Pictured in the photo at right is Bob Stone of Bob Stone Freeway Auto Center with Capt. Jeffrey Sagan, commander of Oregon National Guard unit. Stone donated $1,000 to the Family Readiness Group. Contributed photos
