HRVHS blood drive

Lauren Greenleaf prepares to give blood Wednesday at the American Red Cross Blood Drive at Hood River Valley High School, with encouragement from her friend Elizabeth Bailey. “I tried to give last year but they had trouble finding a vein. I hydrated like a champion this week,” Greenleaf said. Students lined up in the school gym, some waiting more than an hour, to donate blood. Posters around campus encouraged students planning to give blood to drink water and get rest and proper nutrition, including plenty of iron. For that, senior Vanessa Silva said she ate a large bag of almonds.
