Winners have been announced for the 2015 Annual Gorge Artists Create show at The Dalles Art Center.
The show was judged by Dr. Steven Grafe, curator at Maryhill Museum of Art since 2009.
There were 44 entries and 39 pieces were accepted into the show. The opening reception is tonight, Aug. 6, from 5 - 7 p.m. The exhibit is open through August and visitors can vote for their favorite: People’s choice will be awarded at the end of the month.
Dr. Steven Grafe, curator at Maryhill Museum of Art since 2009, has judged the 2015 Annual Gorge Artists Create Exhibit at The Dalles Art Center.
Award winners included: Best of show, “Baby Pinots Nestled,” an oil by Laurel Bushman; First place, “Swimmers 2,” a mixed media work by Charlotte Van Zant-King; Second place, “Apple Blossom Time,” Cloisonne’ Enamel piece by Jo Dean Sarins; Third place, “Infinity Shawl B,” a handwoven creation by Sally Ann Kortge.
Honorable mentions were awarded for “Up close,” a watercolor by Bill Sturman; “Certified,” an acrylic by Diana McElheran; “Valley Freeze,” an oil by Anthony Kiser; “Iris,” a Cloisonne’ enamel by Jo Dean Sarins and “Swimmers 3,” a mixed media work by Charlotte Van Zant-King.
