Last week’s History Mystery was taken just after noon on July 9, 1946. The photographer was looking down Fourth Street, Hood River. What is the line of people waiting for? We still don’t know. Perhaps they have returned from war, and are in line to collect their GI benefits? Anybody got further information, please let us know!

Free news: Columbia Gorge Discovery Center and Museum has restored their Historic Photo Archives online, at www.gorgediscovery.org. Thanks to a grant from the City of The Dalles, the public now can view more than 30,600 images from the museum’s vast photo collection.
STEVENSON — The Columbia Gorge Museum is excited to announce their newest exhibition, Gorge Artists Open Studios Preview Show. Located in the Encircle Technology Community Gallery, the artworks of various local artists participating in this year’s Gorge Artists Open Studios will be on view to the public from April 18 through April 26.
Photo from two weeks ago, courtesy Columbia Gorge Discovery Center where it’s number 2020.3.3 in the collections, showed Seufert Park and the Winquatt Museum, once located beside The Dalles Dam on the Oregon side. It was on the old Seufert Cannery site, owned by Wasco County/City of The Dalles as an archaeology museum, providing exhibit space, storage, and training workshops.
