Country Dance returns Nov. 12
The Mid Columbia Folklore Society hosts the Second Saturday Country Dance on Oct. 8, from 7-9 p.m.
The dance caller will be Sue Baker and the band will be Lanny and the Gorgettes.
Dance lessons will begin at 7 p.m. All ages welcome. No partner required. Family friendly. All dances walked through first time. Enjoy an evening of country squares, contras, circle dances and a few waltzes.
The dance will be at the Rockford Grange, on Barrett Road, Hood River. $6 for members, $7 for non-members, $1 for youth 16 and under. Please bring treats for break time.
Gospel concert Nov. 12
Keepers of the Faith Gospel Quartet will be at Tucker Road Baptist Church (1455 Tucker Road, Hood River), on Saturday, Nov. 12. The free concert will begin at 6:30 p.m.; the church will be open starting at 5:30 p.m. “Keepers of the Faith bring the deep south island flavor, a taste of oldies but goodies, and the soul of saved men to the genre of Southern Gospel Quartet Music. The group has been in ministry for over 15 years.”
‘Game of Tiaras’ at TDHS
The Dalles High School Drama Department invites you to experience “Game of Tiaras,” the ultimate Shakespearian Disney spoof. When the aging king of the Magical Kingdom decides to split his empire to his three daughters, Cinderella, Belle, and the Snow Queen, terrible tragedy ensues. Terrible, hilarious tragedy. Combining the gut-wrenching plot twists of Game of Thrones and the soul-numbing despair of Shakespearean tragedy, this adaptation of King Lear will leave you dying with laughter as the body count mounts. When you play the “Game of Tiaras,” you win or you die. The performances are at The Dalles High School auditorium Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 10-12 and then Nov. 17-19. Tickets are $6.50 for adults and students and $5 for senior citizens and children under 12. The show is appropriate for adults and children of all ages.
Find Your Inner Geezer
Musical Comedy at its Best — “It’s a rock band. But it’s a geezer rock band. Maybe Van Halen, like, 30 years from now.” That's how writer and producer Rick Weiss describes the new stage show Geezerpalooza! The musical which he created with co-writer Kate Finn. Stages of Life will premiere Geezerpalooza! at Columbia Center for the Arts on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. The couples' new musical comedy revue is a rockin’, rollicking romp with multiple laughs-per-minute, 30 percent more fiber, and a special highlight: "TRUMP! The Musical!"
United Way benefit Dec. 4 with Aaron Meyer
It’s a holiday benefit concert with rock violinist Aaron Meyer and his amazing six piece band and special guest singers The Brown Sisters. This years show is also a tribute to Tim Ellis, a dear friend and guitarist of Aaron’s band who recently passed away. The concert is Sunday, Dec. 4, at 3:30 p.m. in the Gorge Room at Best Western Plus Hood River Inn. General admission tickets are $20 and preferred seating options are available. Secret Salsa Society meets
Join the Secret Salsa Society on Friday, Nov. 11, for a salsa dance lesson with instructor Javier Solis of Gemini Dance Company. Lesson begins at 7:30 p.m., social dancing follows at 9 p.m. Admission is $10. Beginners are welcome; no experience or partner necessary. Located at the Mt. View Grange, 1085 N. ‘Rivers of Oregon’ Nov. 16
