Stargazing session March 29
Join amateur astronomer Jim White for an evening with the stars, at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center, Saturday, March 29. The evening will start with a gourmet burger bar dinner at 6 p.m., followed by a Spring Stargazing presentation by White at 7 p.m. If weather allows, there will be a telescope sky viewing at 7:30 p.m.
White will talk about the upcoming lunar eclipse on April 14-15, planets, and other celestial events.

Friday, March 7: Boys II Gentlemen 9:30 p.m. –Funk Soul Dance. A side project from the bands The Quick & Easy Boys and Excellent Gentlemen bring their funky jams to the stage for their first-ever Hood River performance that will feature Hood River’s own Casey Anderson on drums.
Saturday, March 8: The Fire Weeds 9:30 p.m. – Grass-fed, wide-open Americana. Mixing elements of jam music with tight vocal harmonies and song-craft, dance-ability is a sure thing. Best Western Hood River Inn, 1108 E. Marina Way; 541-386-2200.
Hood River County is reading William Stafford
Join Hood River County Reads, an annual community reading adventure. This year, Hood River County is celebrating what would have been the 100th birthday of Oregon’s quintessential poet William Stafford. You can pick up free copies of “Ask Me: 100 Essential Poems” at the official kickoffs of Hood River County Reads on Sunday, March 16, 2-3:30 p.m. at the Hood River Library and Tuesday, March 17, 5-7 p.m. at the Cascade Locks and Parkdale Libraries. Stafford’s son Kim Stafford will be giving a public reading at Hood River Library on Sunday, April 27, at 2 p.m. This project is sponsored by the Friends of the Hood River County Library.
Second Saturday Dance March 8
The first Second Saturday Country Dance of the new year is Saturday, March 8, at 7 p.m. at the Rockford Grange, Barrett Road in Hood River. Enjoy an evening of country squares, contras, circle dances and a few waltzes. Admission is $6 for members, $7 for non-members, $1 for youth and students. Please bring snack treats for break time.
