Venerable Kozen Sampson of Trout Lake Buddhist Abbey will be guest speaker on April 16 at Riverside Community Church, Fourth and State streets, at the 10:30 a.m. service.
Jehovah’s Witness assembly April 17
The local congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses will have their “Imitate Their Faith” one day assembly on Sunday, April 17 in Woodburn.
“As Christians, a core belief of Jehovah’s Witnesses is that Jesus lived his life as a model to follow,” reads a press release. “His father, Jehovah, knows how much we need faith and provides us with many examples to teach us how to build and show faith.”
The assembly will have bible-based talks and demonstrations to help all listeners.
The public is welcome to attend at the Woodburn Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1510 N. Pacific Highway. The program begins at 9:40 a.m. There are no admission or parking fees.
A study of Judas, Sunday at Immanuel
Pastor Jeff Mueller of Immanuel Lutheran Church will look at the disciple Judas, who betrayed Jesus, and the fine line between his loss of grace and the redemption of the Apostle Peter. The service starts at 10 a.m., Ninth and State streets.
Covenant Christian hosts OCC fundraiser
Covenant Christian Church, 455 Frankton Road, will hold “Operation Christmas Child Movie Night” on May 14 beginning at 5:45 p.m. Admission is by small toy or a cash donation for OCC shoeboxes that will be filled this coming December.
Movies will be “War Room” for adults and “Adventures in Odyssey” for kids ages four and over.
Organizers say no war related toys and no liquids will be accepted. Items such as cars and dolls, jump ropes, balls with hand pumps, summer toys, sidewalk chalk, purses, puzzles, travel games and small musical instruments are suggested.
The event will feature concessions, giveaways and fun for all ages.
