The Appraisal Fair gives visitors a chance to bring in their family treasure and discuss its history and value with a licensed appraiser.
“It has been several years since we’ve hosted this event, but in the past it was extremely popular and fun. People seem to really enjoy coming to see and hear about the interesting variety of items that people bring in. Sandra and Jeff are not only very informative – they are interesting to watch and listen too. We are excited to have them back to Hood River once again.” Connie Nice; Museum Coordinator.
Appraisers Millius Estate Services has been in business since 1997. They provide personal property appraisals for insurance, estate settlement, divorce, gift and donation and for damage and loss claim purposes. Sandra Millius and Jeff Motsinger are members and accredited through the International Society of Appraisers (ISA).
They also conduct estate and moving sales. Their clients include anyone who is responsible for settling an estate, such as attorneys, heirs, or executors. Other clients are individuals who are down sizing for a move to a retirement center or to another home. They organize advertised public sales, invitation only private sales as well as Internet auction sales. They also assist individuals or organizations with the pricing of items that they will be selling themselves.
There are some exceptions to the items that they will value at this event. They do not appraise precious stones or jewelry set with those gems – as they are not trained gemologists. They do not appraise firearms and swords at verbal valuation events. They will provide referrals for folks for those items. While we all love to view Native American items; they may pass on identification and valuation and refer customers to local experts. They will also not appraise guns, knives or firearms at public events.
