This year marks the fourth annual return of the Walleye Willie Shootout Memorial Benefit fishing event.
The event kicks off on June 7, with check-in taking place at The Dalles Marina parking lot at 101 North Basin Road. Participants will fish the Bonneville and The Dalles Pools. On Sunday, participants must submit their fish record by 3 p.m. for judging. Records can be submitted to the Walleye Willie Facebook page or texted directly to organizers. According to the event page on the Adventist Health Columbia Gorge Website, participants must use a tape measure or ruler to clearly display “Fork Length” (the tip of the fish’s mouth to the V-shaped apex of its tail).
Participants are expected to follow all Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife catch rules and regulations, including returning all large females, as well as all boating safety rules.
An awards ceremony will be held at The Dalles Marina, with prizes going towards First and Second Longest Walleye, Youth Longest Walleye (for participants 18 years or younger), and Longest Bass. Participants must be present at the ceremony to win. Each participant will be entered into drawings for additional prizes upon registration.
Deadline to register for the event is Friday, June 6 at 4 p.m., with a registration cost of $40. Participants can register online at give.adventisthealth.org/walleye-willie.
Established in the memory of Willie and Sheila Ross, proceeds from the event will benefit the Adventist Health Columbia Gorge Celilo Cancer Center Fund.
