The Dalles Little League (TDLL) is hosting a field clean-up day on Kramer Field this Saturday, March 8, starting at 10 a.m.
According to the TDLL Facebook page, Saturday’s clean up goals include Spreading Soil Amendments, edging and weed removal, mound work and cleaning concessions and gear storage.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own tools (marked with their name to keep track of them). TDLL encourages the community members to come out and participate, not only giving them an opportunity to give back, but an opportunity for high school students to receive community service hours, as well as TDLL parents the opportunity to earn volunteer credit.
This clean-up day comes ahead of TDLL’s April 5 opening day, which will start at 9 a.m. According to a press release, this year marks the leagues 65th year in The Dalles.
TDLL has partnered with Wasco County to make facilities upgrades to Kramer field, including an investment in two new scoreboards for the fields on the East end of Karmer field, which, according to TDLL, will be installed in upcoming weeks with the assistance of Crestline Construction and Pray Electric.
“TTLL is continuing to work with Wasco County to make responsible upgrades to the entire park to improve field conditions and ensure safety is a top priority,” said the press release.

This year also marks TDLL’s union with The Dalles Girls Softball Association. “This strategic move will help us align our baseball and softball programs,” the press release said, “We are so excited to bring Softball to TDLL!”
With almost 500 athletes participating in the upcoming season, TDLL has chartered 10 divisions of baseball and softball, including the adaptive baseball program Challengers, for children with developmental and physical disabilities.
TDLL will be hosting several games and events over the season, including more than 40 teams for this year’s Little League District 5 All Start Tournament this summer, when opening ceremonies being on June 20.
Other events include the T-Mobile Home Run Derby held on May 22, as well as Round Robin weekend games for older team divisions throughout the season. Challengers baseball games will begin on May 4.
