HOOD RIVER — Mt. Adams Institute’s Sense of Place event series returns this fall with its 16th season. The season will launch with Woven in Place: A Rancher’s Journey from Sheep to Fashion and the Olympics on Oct. 8 at Columbia Center for the Arts.Â
Season 16 will highlight diverse stories and landscapes of the Columbia River Gorge. The popular speaker series will feature individuals with deep knowledge spanning ranching and the Olympics to mushrooms, Gifford Pinchot (the man and the national forest) Tribal sovereignty, the music of volcanos, and much more.Â

Oct. 8 — Woven in Place: A Rancher’s Journey from Sheep to Fashion and the Olympics with Jeanne Carver
Nov. 12 — Mostly Mushrooms: What I Discovered When I Fell in Love with Fungi, with Krista Cushman
Dec. 10 — After Gifford Pinchot: Ancient Forests, Timber Wars, and a Century of Change, with Rand Schenck
Jan. 21 —  More Than a Fish: Stories of Salmon and Sovereignty in the Pacific Northwest, with Dylan Hedden-Nicely
Jan. 29 — Special Event: The Volcano Listening Project
Feb. 18 — Going Out on a Limb: Life on the Family Farms of Lisa Perry and Ricardo Galvez, with Lisa Perry
March 18 — Rattlesnakesssss: Shedding the Myths to Meet the Snake, with Adrian Slade
April 15 — Crag Rats Turn 100: A Century of Service with the Oldest Mountain Search & Rescue Team in America, with Christopher Van Tilburg
