KLICKIAT CO. — The Port of Klickitat has completed another clean audit, said a press release. “The Washington State Auditor’s Office completed an accountability audit for Jan. 1, 2022, through Dec. 31, 2024,” said the release. “The audit focused on compliance with applicable state laws, regulations, and policies, and controls over the safeguarding of public resources. The Port received no findings or management recommendations and meets the highest standards of financial stewardship and compliance.”
“This achievement is a direct result of the day-to-day hard work and integrity of our entire staff and our board’s strategic oversight has been instrumental in ensuring our operations remain strong, transparent, and economic development mission focused," said Executive Director Margie Ziegler.
“The actual cost of the audit was approximately $4,800 less than the estimated due to the efficiency of the state auditors and port staff,” said Port Commissioner Jim Herman. “The audit reflects the organization’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and operational excellence."
Herman continued, "Having the Washington State Auditor’s Office inspect and review our operations helps assure the public that we are spending their tax dollars properly and operating with transparency."
