Hood River Police, April 28 - May 4
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Disorderly conduct (one), driving under the influence of intoxicants (six), harassment (one), hit and run (one), initiating a false report (one), interfering with making a report (one), reckless driving (one), resisting arrest (two), trespass (two), unlawful entry into a motor vehicle (one), warrant (four).
Notable incidents
Six DUII arrests. In one incident, a non-resident was arrested on charge of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. They were also cited for driving while suspended, driving uninsured, and failing to obey a stop sign. The involved vehicle was towed. In another incident, a Forest Grove, Ore., resident was arrested on the charge of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, and eventually acknowledged the use of methamphetamine and cannabis. In a third, a Hood River driver was arrested for DUII - alcohol and reckless driving at the Exit 64 on-ramp after being involved in a single-vehicle collision.
Four warrant arrests. In one incident, officers arrested a local transient for a failure to appear warrant out of Hood River County.
Two theft reports. Identity theft and shoplifting.
Two trespass arrests. In one incident, a Hood River resident was arrested and lodged at NORCOR on charges of criminal trespass and resisting arrest.
One disorderly conduct arrest. Officers arrested and lodged a non-resident person at NORCOR on charges of disorderly conduct, trespass, resisting arrest, and unlawful entry into a motor vehicle.
Officers responded to the Hood River Inn regarding a dispute involving two people. Based on the victim’s statement, officer observation and video, one person was arrested and lodged at NORCOR on charges of interfering with making a police report and harassment.
Officers took a report of a stolen Nissan pickup out of the Walmart parking lot. After reviewing the security video, it was determined the owner of the truck was the one who drove away in it. The owner of the vehicle was arrested on the charge of initiating a false report.
A hit and run was reported.
On May 1, an Oregon resident eluded a traffic stop during an investigation for DUII.
An officer responded to a local business on a report of found drugs May 1.
A two-vehicle collision occurred near Seventh and Oak on May 3. No injuries were reported.
The Dalles Police, May 2 - 9
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Assault (one), disorderly conduct (one), escape (one), parole/probation violation (two), theft (two), trespass (three), reckless burn (one), theft (one), warrant (five).
Notable incidents
Ninety-eight mental health calls.
Twenty-one animal events. Dogs at large, barking dogs, found pitbull puppy, dog hit by car, injured dog, animal neglect, welfare checks, dog bite. In one incident, a cat escaped from its residence and was shot with an arrow. No suspect information.
Six theft reports. Theft of services, vehicle, gas, Gorilla cart and Dewaldt tools, employee theft, U-Haul rental.
Three vehicle crashes. One incident took place on I-84 westbound on May 4. The vehicle was towed. In another incident on May 5, a non-blocking, non-injury crash took place on Union Street. In another incident, a two-vehicle crash that blocked Federal Street on May 9 involved a black Volvo and a gray Highlander. Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue responded. The Highlander’s driver and their child were transported to an area hospital for unknown injuries.
A person was arrested near a Chenowith business and lodged at NORCOR on charges of disorderly conduct and criminal trespass.
A person was arrested and lodged at NORCOR on charges of reckless burning and parole violation after leaving burning belongings on fire in the roadway on Cherry Heights.
One hit and run was reported from Lone Pine Drive on May 5. A parked vehicle was hit while in a drive-thru.
A vandalism report was taken for a broken car windshield on Second Street.
A report was taken for an unattended death.
Two overdoses. In one incident, an officer assisted an overdose on Cherry Heights by administering a narcan before EMS arrived and took over care.
Two theft arrests. In one incident, a person was arrested on charges of theft, escape and three warrants.
A person was arrested near W. Sixth on the charge of assault, after engaging in a fight with another person which resulted in a stab wound. Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue responded. The victim was transported to an area hospital.
Wasco County Sheriff, May 2 - 9

Notable incidents

A brush fire was reported near Cherry Heights Viewpoint.

A deputy responded to five other warrant-related incidents, disposition not logged.
An alleged shot was reported on Fifteenmile Road.
A drug incident was logged from Webber Street.
A search and rescue was called for Sevenmile Hill Road and Chenowith Creek May 9.
Oregon State Police, May 3 - 10
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: DUII (two).
Notable incidents
Three non-injury crashes. OSP responded to a two-vehicle crash that was blocking the fast lane of the Interstate. A gray Toyota Camry rapidly decelerated after passing a gray Honda Ridgline on the right and then getting back in front of it. The Honda Ridgline was following too closely, and crashed into the rear of the Toyota Camry. The vehicles were left blocking the fast lane as medics and trooper arrived on scene, and were later towed. Each driver received a citation, for different charges. In another incident, a green Subaru hydroplaned on I-84 and lost control near I-84 milepost 51.5 westbound, hitting a barrier and then a FedEx semi-truck. One lane was blocked; the vehicle towed. In another incident, a motorcycle fishtailed and overturned near milepost 71 eastbound, I-84, scattering the contents of one saddlebag. A trooper and Mosier Firefighters cleared the lane of debris.
A trooper responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a blue Subaru outback on May 3. An adult passenger received minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital by ambulance. The Subaru was towed.
A reporting party on Multnomah Road, Hood River, reported they found a steel leg trap that still held the lower portion of a coyote’s leg on their property. The trap chain was broken and it appeared to be dislodged from its original setting. The reporting party stated they were unaware of any neighbors who would have traps out at this season. A trooper took possession of the trap, which had no brand.
OSP located a damaged vehicle abandoned off the interstate May 4. The vehicle was unoccupied and no crash reported. The owner arrived on scene and stated the vehicle was stolen, reporting it as such to the Hood River Police Department. Security footage determined the vehicle was not stolen, and the owner was driving during the crash. Investigation ongoing.
A shooting complaint was received in Clarno by the John Day River. People were found shooting Mourning Doves with a pellet rifle. Two were violation cited for no hunting licenses. The third was cited for taking game birds in a closed season. All received multiple warnings. Four mourning doves were seized.
A trooper stopped a vehicle for driving 88 mph, and got a near-hit warrant returned on the driver. Name, birthdate and location all matched, but the height was a few inches off, and after the driver voluntarily accompanied the trooper to NORCOR to give fingerprints, they proved not to be the wanted person. The trooper provided the person, and Colorado, with information to avoid that confusion in the future.
While boat patrolling on the Columbia May 9, Fish and Wildlife troopers located an illegal gill net, removed it, and seized it.
