THE GORGE — The Department of Revenue will provide tax preparation assistance for low-income taxpayers in 18 libraries across Oregon, with department staff and volunteers slated to be at The Dalles Public Library from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Feb. 6.
“Participating libraries will provide wifi and public use computers to help aid in this project,” said a Department of Revenue press release. “Computers may be limited, so bring your own if you can.”
What to bring:
• Social security card or individual tax identification number for everyone on your tax return
• Government picture ID for taxpayer and spouse if filing jointly (driver’s license or passport)
• Forms W-2 (wages from a job)
• Forms 1099-G, 1099-R, 1099-INT (other income)
• Form SSA-1099 (Social Security benefits)
• Canceled check or bank routing and account numbers for direct deposit
• Last year’s tax return
To see if you qualify to use IRS Direct File, see the IRS’s Eligibility Checker (directfile.irs.gov). The department recommends setting up an IRS online account and an account with Oregon’s Revenue Online before the event.
