GLENWOOD HOMEMAKERS
Hey, all of you gifted community members...time is approaching for the annual Glenwood's Got Talent show. Dress rehearsal will be April 12 and the talent show will be held on April 13 -- both events to begin at 6:30 p.m. at the school. Everyone wishing to participate in the talent show must also take part in the rehearsal. Glenwood's Got Talent is a free admission event; and everyone is invited to enjoy the talents of our neighbors. For questions, please contact the school at 364-3438.
Not only did we have snow showers in Glenwood over the weekend -- we also had baby showers.
A shower for Lacey (Scott) Peterkin and her soon-to-be born twins, Kately and Kinley was held at the Grange Hall on Saturday. On Sunday, Kim Hoctor was honored with a baby shower for her soon-to-be born daughter, McKinzee. From all indications, the three babies are going to be well-dressed and warm! Congratulations to both families -- we're anxious to meet your little ones!
The Glenwood Cemetery Commission will hold a meeting at the Glenwood Grange on Thursday, April 7, at 7 p.m.
Sweet Thursday will be observed at Pioneer Memorial Community Church on April 7 at 6:30. Community ladies are invited to enjoy an evening of visiting, laughs and delicious desserts.
While showers were the order for the past weekend, spring clean-up could be the theme for the coming weekend.
The Pioneer Memorial Church will have a workday on Saturday, April 9, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Everyone is reminded to bring rakes, ladders and gloves. Scheduled tasks include yard work, washing windows and clearing cobwebs.
On Sunday, April 10, the Glenwood Rodeo Association will hold its first work day of the spring. Cleanup will begin around 10 a.m.; a potluck lunch will be served at noon, followed by a short business meeting and more work. Members are reminded to bring tools. The Glenwood Rodeo Association encourages anyone who is interested in joining, or just helping, to attend.
The Glenwood Middle School track team will host a meet on Thursday, April 14, at 4:30 p.m. Hope for sunshine; and plan to come out to support our young track competitors.
Allied Waste Services, Inc. has been providing a container at the school to accept community recyclables, at no charge, for quite some time now. According to Shirley Jagelski of Allied, that service is in jeopardy of being discontinued. Someone has been contaminating the unlocked facility by dumping garbage (ie an old chair, lawn mower, etc.) in the recycling container. When garbage is dumped in with the recycling items, the whole container has to be dumped in the trash; and Allied loses the revenue that could have been generated from sale of the recyclables. Please remember, that the recycling container is a convenience for our community and is for recyclables only -- not for trash.
Speaking of recycling possibilities -- Cathy Rolph is looking for rusted-out water troughs. If you have one or more you would like to part with, Cathy will take it off your hands. Her telephone is 364-3359.
A shout out to Chris Kuhnhausen -- we hope you are feeling much better real soon!
