Soroptimist of Mt. Adams is now accepting applications for its Women's Opportunity Award.
The award is designed to give a woman head of household, who provides the primary source of financial support for her family, the opportunity to achieve her career goals-an opportunity she has not previously had, whether because of economic or social barriers, or personal circumstances.
This award is for a woman who is attending, or has been accepted to, a vocational/skills training program, or an undergraduate degree program.
The Women's Opportunity Award is a cash award of $500 that a recipient may use for any expenses related to her educational pursuits, including tuition and books, housing, child care and transportation.
Applications are available to women residing in Stevenson, White Salmon, Bingen, Trout Lake, Lyle, Klickitat and surrounding areas.
The local winner may become eligible to receive a region-level award.
Applications must be received by Soroptimist of Mt. Adams by Dec. 15, 2004.
