All residents of Snowden and Burdoin Mountain are invited to attend the annual general meeting of the Snowden Community Council on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Cherry Lane Fire Station.
The purpose of the Snowden meeting is to nominate candidates to run for the councils' board of representatives. The board election will take place on Nov. 7, in conjunction with the general election.
Only candidates who have been nominated at the Sept. 5 meeting will be eligible for the ballot, although write-in votes will be accepted.
Each Snowden representative will serve for four years. Representatives will be elected for the board from each of the five districts within the Snowden/Burdoin Mountain planning area.
The five districts, including all side roads, are as follows:
Snowden Road from the cemetery north to the Cherry Lane Fire Station.
Bates Road and all areas accessed by Bates
Snowden Road from the Cherry Lane Fire Station north to and including Acme Road
Snowden Road north of Acme Road
all areas accessed by Courtney Road on Burdoin Mountain.
Candidates for nomination must be registered voters who live within one of the five areas described above.
Board meetings are usually held on the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Cherry Lane fire station.
Also on the agenda for the Sept. 5 meeting: board members will report to the general membership on the recent community land-use survey and plans for updating the area's zoning.
For more information about the meeting or the nomination procedure, call chairperson Louis Huszar, 493-3246.
