The withdrawal of territory from Klickitat County Fire Protection District No. 3 for the purpose of forming a new district inside the city of White Salmon's urban growth boundary will be the subject of debate Wednesday evening.
Mt. Adams Chamber of Commerce is hosting the forum in the community library, starting at 6:30. According to a chamber spokesman, community members will hear presentations from spokesmen on both sides of the issue and have the chance to ask questions.
Nancy Sliwa, a member of the group that succeeded in getting the matter on the Aug. 16 ballot, will speak in support of withdrawal. Mark Zoller, a member of the Husum Fire Department, will present the opposing viewpoint.
The debate will be moderated by James L. Kacena, president of the Mt. Adams Chamber.
Citizens may ask questions of the two sides by either (1) email written questions in advance to the chamber office at info@mtadamschamber.com; or (2) submit written questions, printed legibly on paper, at the event on debate night.
