The latest school board meeting was reported to be very cut and dried with no interaction between board members and the audience. The only newsworthy item was a new science teacher has been hired and Ms. Glenys Hill, our new interim superintendent, was present. If you missed her "Meet and Greet party" on Aug. 28 from 6:30 to 7:30 at Lyle High School, you still have a chance on Sept. 10 at Dallesport Elementary; same time.
The Twin Bridges Museum is now the proud owner of a beautiful antique (what else?) Kimball Pump Organ that had originally been purchased from the Methodist Church in the 1960s, and now generously donated, by the James Reed family. Many likewise residents have brought forth items that were family heirlooms they wish to share with the public either by donation or "on loan" for a specific time period. Old photos you don't wish to part with but willing to share, can be scanned and returned as you wait. The "on loan" items can be a collection of anything that would fit in the museum's limited space and preferably of lesser value. There is a fundraising yard sale set up downstairs to help offset the cost of maintenance. Museum hours are from 10 to 4 on Saturdays through September. Admission is free.
A "Skyline Hospital Informational Meeting" is coming to the Lyle Community Council Monday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Lyle Lions Community Center. Skyline Hospital's CEO Mike Madden and commissioners of Skyline Hospital will attend several community meetings throughout Klickitat County over the next few months. They will be on hand to discuss important changes at Skyline and to answer any questions you might have pertaining to this community's public hospital. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. I hope everyone visited the fair and enjoyed the exhibits. Did you win Grand Champion on those string beans you grew from tiny seeds? Or maybe that beautiful quilt you sewed every stitch by hand? Or maybe you stayed on the full eight seconds and are now sporting a buckle that will cover your whole midsection. There are many ways to enjoy our county fair; my favorites are the craft building and curly fries!
