Gorgeous Sounds, a program under Columbia Gorge Arts in Education (CGAIE), is proud to bring the Vinca Quartet to the Gorge for eight days of concerts, assemblies, and in-school residencies.
During their visit, the Vincas will provide assemblies and in-class instruction at Mosier School, May Street Elementary and Whitson Elementary.
In addition, they will perform two free community concerts: Nov. 8 at Columbia Center for the Arts and Nov. 12 at Bethel Community Church in White Salmon.
They will also perform a benefit concert at Gorge Crest Vineyards on Nov. 6.
Hailed by the New York Times as "stunning" and "musicians worth keeping an eye on," the Vinca Quartet is a charismatic young string quartet who share their own love of chamber music through high caliber performances.
Winners of the 2008 International Chamber Music Concert, the quartet has performed in major concert venues including Carnegie Hall, Yale University, and the Weikersheim Castle in Germany.
Strongly committed to inspiring new audiences, the Vincas have helped launch concert series in rural communities in Colorado and Connecticut. The quartet has coached many young musicians and frequently works with students in public schools and string programs throughout the country.
Gorgeous Sounds, a new program under CGAIE, seeks to expand and enhance the culture of classical music in the Gorge. Building on existing music instruction (both public and private), Gorgeous Sounds strives to provide classroom instruction, all-school assemblies, teacher trainings and community concerts -- all with the goal of increasing participation and appreciation of classical music in communities from The Dalles to White Salmon.
