Columbia High's boys track and field team got first-place efforts from seniors Nolan Kenoyer and Andrew Culp, sophomore Calvin Garrett and its 4x100-meter relay on its way to a season-opening victory here last Thursday.
The Bruins totaled 98 points against competitors from Stevenson (86), Woodland (75), Lyle (39) and Klickitat (28).
Kenoyer won the 110-meter high hurdles, Culp was first in the 100 dash and Garrett equaled his career-best with a 6-foot, 1-inch high jump.
The 4x100 relay team of sophomore Robert Plante, junior David White, Culp and sophomore Kyle Earls came in first in a time of 46.68 seconds.
Columbia got most of its scoring (48 points) through eight second-place finishes.
Senior Josh Burrell placed second in the discus and shot put, and Kenoyer was the runner-up in the 300 hurdles and the triple jump to account for half of that total.
More second-place points came from Earls (400), freshman Luis Roque (1600), junior Joe Lewis (3200) and senior Matt Cooley (javelin).
Stevenson was led by double-event winners Mike Ostler (discus, shot put) and Daron Aman (triple jump, long jump).
Sophomore Hershel Sanchey, last year's Class B champion in the 3200, scored the bulk of Klickitat's points, winning the 1600 and the 3200.
Lyle's top individual placer was junior Joey Nelson. He cleared 5-10 to finish second in the high jump.
