PENDLETON — When a team is still looking for its first win of the season, the last thing it wants to do is face off against the league’s only undefeated team.
Even worse is playing the lone unbeaten on the road. That’s exactly the challenge that stared the 0-10 HRV volleyball team in the face Tuesday when it traveled to Pendleton.
The Buckaroos took control early and won the match 25-2, 25-3 and 25-13, making the Eagles’ trip to eastern Oregon seem more like a pit stop.
“There’s never an easy night in this league,” coach Molly Kissinger said. “I wouldn’t say we played our best against Pendleton, but there were some bright spots in the third game. That made the bus ride home a little more upbeat.”
The Eagles, now 0-11, are finishing out the IMC schedule this weekend with three road matches in two days. They played Bend on Friday night (results not yet available) and will face Redmond today at 10 a.m. and Crook County today at 1:30 p.m.
“Bend has been struggling this year as well,” Kissinger said. “Our girls believe they can go in there and get that first win.”
