PAUL LINCK
White Salmon resident Paul Schloler-Linck died Jan. 20, 2005, from injuries received from an airplane accident in Hood River County. He was 41.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at 2 p.m. at the Bowe Theater at Hood River Valley High School.
Mr. Linck was born July 20, 1963, in Moshi, Tanzania to Helge and Iris (Kalogeris Schloler-Linck. He was raised and educated in Kenya and Tanzania. He lived in Moshi, Tanzania; Nairobi, Kenya; West Redding, Conn.; and Mombasa, Kenya.
On Sept. 3, 1983, he married Jennifer Thornton in Wilton, Conn. They moved to White Salmon in 1996.
Mr. Linck was a certified flight instructor and corporate pilot. He was a member of the Jehovah's Witness and was active with his congregation. He spent much of his spare time flying, as it was his joy. He enjoyed cooking Indian curry, playing Mario Kart double dash challenges with his family, and loved to ride roller coasters.
Mr. Linck is survived by his wife, Jenni; sons Bryon and Kim, White Salmon; brothers Robert and Michael Linck, Kenya; and parents Helge and Iris Linck, Kenya.

BROOK CAMPBELL
Home Valley resident Brook Campbell died Jan. 20, 2005. A memorial service was held Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall in Carson at 5:30 p.m.
Mr. Campbell was born Dec. 11, 1978, in White Salmon to Guy and Julie (Riavo) Campbell. He married Kara Cummings and together they had four children.
Mr. Campbell grew up in Hood River. His passions were his family, snowmobiling, jet skiing, motocross and his work. He owned and operated Rockin' The Gorge drywall, Inc. He was loved and admired by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sadie Campbell.
Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife, Kara, Home Valley; children Brandon, 8, Kody, 4, Sara, 2, and Josslin, 2 weeks; father Guy Campbell and mother Julie Campbell; brother Shawn Campbell; sister Shea Sadek; and grandparents Wayne and Dorie Campbell.

RAY BERTSCHI
Ray Loren Bertschi, 94, died at his home in Lyle on Jan. 17, 2005. He was born to Hazel (Snipes) and Ike Bertschi on Nov. 2, 1920, in Spokane, Wash.
As a child, he traveled with his parents. As an adult, he moved to Alaska where he lived for 38 years and later settled in Lyle. Over the course of his life, he worked as a crane operator, equipment mechanic, electrician, cat skinner and commercial fisherman.
Mr. Bertschi was an inventor. He loved to figure out mechanical problems. He also enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Masons for 60 years. In the winters, he traveled down south to Mexico, Florida, Arizona and Texas, in a travel trailer he built himself.
Mr. Bertschi is survived by his son Jerry L. Bertschi, Lyle; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sarah Evens Bertschi and grandson Robin Bertschi.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2004, at the Lions Club in Lyle.

ORBRA GREENLEE
Orbra L. Greenlee, Bellevue and a former White Salmon resident, died at Overlake Hospital Medical Center on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005. She was 79.
Mrs. Greenlee was born on March 26, 1925, in Carbondale, Ill., the daughter of Robert Arlington and Alta Cagle Batson. She earned her registered nurse degree from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, Mo. Following graduation, she worked as a nurse in San Francisco, Yakima and Kennewick. She married Robert Greenlee in 1950 in Yakima and later joined her husband in their funeral service in Pasco.
Mrs. Greenlee was an active member of the United Methodist Church in White Salmon, past president of Altrusa and Emblem Club, past guardian of Job's Daughters Bethel 59, and a member of the Washington State Funeral Directors.
She was an avid bridge player and also enjoyed sewing, quilting, hiking, and visiting with family and friends. In addition, she volunteered with the Issaquah Historical Society.
Mrs. Greenlee is survived by her daughter Roberta Greenlee, Pleasanton, Calif., Katie Wynkoop, Bellevue, and Carolyn Wika, Spokane; brother Bernard Batson, Wolfboro, N.H.; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at noon on Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at St. Peter's Methodist Church in Bellevue. Burial was held at Terrace Heights Memorial Park in Yakima at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005.
Arrangements were by Flintofts Issaquah Funeral Home.
PHILIP DEAN
Philip Leo Dean, Glenwood, died Jan. 10, 2005, in Glenwood. He was born Jan. 13, 1927 to George and Tressie (Gerbing) Dean.
The family lived in Glenwood until Mr. Dean enlisted in the Navy at age 17, when his family moved to The Dalles, Ore.
Following his discharge in 1946, Mr. Dean worked in The Dalles before moving back to Glenwood. He married Veneta Steinbach on June 19, 1948. The couple made their home in Glenwood for the rest of their lives.
Mr. Dean worked for J. Neils Lumber Company and successive owners for 38 years until he retired. He was a heavy equipment operator extraordinaire, having a hand in building most of the major logging roads in the Glenwood area.
He passions other than his family revolved around the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending countless weekends with family hunting ducks in the valley or fishing at Bench Lake. He also enjoyed high school sports and attended his children and grandchildren's games, as well as many trips to Spokane to sit through state tournaments.
His most closely held passion was his family and his wife of 49 years, Veneta, who died in 1997.
He is survived by sons James Dean, Glenwood; John Dean, Trout Lake; Jerry Dean, Glenwood, Jaylin Dean, Wahkiacus; daughter Jennifer (Dean) Frudd, Clarkston; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, grandson Stephen Dean and sister Faye.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at the Glenwood Community Church with Pastor Sandy Strait officiating. Graveside followed the service at the Mt. Adams Cemetery in Glenwood.
Gardner Funeral Home managed the funeral services.
