CAROLYN HOLLISTON
Carolyn E. Holliston, 89, died Aug. 3, 2008, in the Alzheimer's section of Brookside Manor in Hood River, where she had resided the past three years.
She was born Feb. 3, 1919, in Waxahachie, Texas, to Roy and Grace Mulhausen. She attended school in Oklahoma City, before transferring to Jefferson High School in Portland her senior year. After graduation, she attended Oregon State University and then later joined the U.S. Navy WAVES during World War II. She attained the rank of aviation machinist mate, first class, while stationed in Seattle. While there, she met her husband-to-be, Doug Holliston. They were married for 64 years.
The couple moved to White Salmon in 1950 to raise their family. Mrs. Holliston loved to travel and the couple visited over 50 countries around the world. They spent 37 winters in Hawaii, where they had many friends.
She was an avid bowler and duplicate bridge player. She created many beautiful oil paintings and unique stitchery scenes. She worked in Dr. Henkle's office and also for Skyline Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Doug, White Salmon; three children Bob Holliston and Priscilla McMillen, White Salmon, Don Holliston, Hiawassee, Ga.; seven grandchildren Jason Holliston, Tigard, Ore., Chad and Wade Holliston, Everett, Emily McMillen, Kirkland, Keith McMillen, Taos, N.M., and Michelle and Phillip McMillen, White Salmon; great-granddaughter Grace Holliston, Tigard, Ore.; sister Eloise Stevenson, White Salmon; and brother Zane Mulhausen, King City, Ore.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements were provided by Gardner's Funeral Home.
BENJAMIN SKILES
Benjamin H. "Jack" Skiles was born July 29, 1930, and died at his home in Jacksonville, Ore., on July 20, 2008.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mondillia Cox Skiles; daughter Micki Scott; sons Benjamin and Bryon; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brother Ray Skiles; sister Patt Badger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no services.

CHARLES MORGAN
Charles Edward Morgan, known to many as Chuck, died at his home in Stevenson on July 24, 2008, at the age of 55. He was born in Imbolton, Ark., on Nov. 25, 1952.
He moved from Arkansas to the Yakima Valley in the 1950s and later to to Glenwood before settling in Stevenson. He served in the United States Marine Corp.
Mr. Morgan loved fishing of any kind.
Survivors include his sons Christopher Edward Morgan of Carson and Nathan Matthew Morgan of Gresham; parents John and Mary Finn of Centerville; sister Lavanda Dean of Glenwood; brothers Lee Morgan of Ohio and Stanley Finn of Texas; and two grandchildren.
Cremation arrangements were handled by Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon.
WILLIAM HENDERSON
William Kenneth "Bill" Henderson was born on May 22, 1922, in Orting, to Lottie (Blevens) and David Estell Henderson. He died at the Oregon Veterans Home in The Dalles, Ore., on July 28, 2008, at the age of 86.
Mr. Henderson grew up in Orting and later moved to Tacoma to work in the shipyards. He joined the United States Army, serving in World War II where he and one of his buddies were involved in the original capture of war criminal Adolph Eichmann. After his military service to his country, Henderson returned to Tacoma where he met Bonnie Carter, a pretty waitress working in a Chinese restaurant. The couple married on June 30, 1947 and moved to White Salmon.
Mr. Henderson owned a logging truck company and worked in the industry for many years. In 1975 the Hendersons moved to Glenwood where they bought the tavern, which they operated before retiring in 1979 and moving back to White Salmon.
Mrs. Henderson died in 2001 and Mr. Henderson returned to Glenwood to live out his remaining years.
He loved the outdoors and was a superb fisherman, hunter and trapper. He was adored by his family members and feared by fish.
Mr. Henderson is survived by his twin sons Blake Henderson of Underwood and Bob Henderson of Glenwood; daughters Susan Montgomery of Glenwood and Sherry Henderson of Mill A; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie and all of his siblings.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at the White Salmon Cemetery.

ROGER CAMPBELL
A memorial service for Roger Campbell will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon.
Roger Owen Campbell, son of Fay Josephine (Marlett) and Glenn Edwards Campbell, was born Oct. 21, 1958, in Lake Chelan. He moved to White Salmon in 1960 then to Underwood, where he was raised, in 1963.
Though he had been in poor health since his 20s, he was a very strong person. He loved music and made his living as a professional musician, playing keyboard, drums and guitar.
Mr. Campbell was a very mechanical person and also worked at various jobs driving truck, crushing rock, and as a mechanic. He enjoyed riding his Honda V45 motorcycle and hot rodding, which he called "throttle therapy."
He died in Underwood on Aug. 2, 2008, at the age of 49.
He is survived by his son John Frazier of Oregon City; brothers and sisters Steve Campbell of White Salmon; Cathy Asher of Vancouver; David Campbell of Vancouver; Wendy Schmid of Trout Lake, Laurie Carr of Hood River; and Beth Cummins of St. Petersburg, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents.
