A Sci-Fi Film Fest is planned for April 6 as part of the Smithsonian exhibit, "Yesterday's Tomorrows: Past Visions of the American Future," now showing at the Hood River County Historical Museum.
The museum, together with community sponsors, are hosting the event from 10 a.m. to noon at the Hood River Cinema.
The event is free and open to the public.
Films selected for the showing include:
Things to Come -- a black and white 1936 classic fiction drama based on the H.G. Wells fantasy.
Jetsons the Movie -- The family of the future is back in this 1990 feature length animated film based on the TV series.
Silent Running -- The first feature film by Douglas Trumbull. It is a story of a man's relationships with machine, with nature and with himself. Trumbull is the special-effects wizard of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Logan's Run -- This science fiction film takes place in the year 2274 concerning a society where people are only allowed to live to the age of 30. The film won an Oscar for its visual effects.
Although all movies are free, donations will be accepted to help defray costs.
