Whitson Elementary After School Program will host a "Lights On" event in the gym for Whitson students on Thursday, Oct. 20, from 2:15-3:30 p.m.
Children will work in small teams constructing projects using a variety ot toy building materials. The PTO will serve healthy snacks and parent volunteers will coach the construction stations. All children must pre-register for attendance.
"Lights On Afterschool" is celebrated nationwide to call attention to the importance of after school programs and their important role in the lives of children, families, and communities.
Over one million children will attend school events on October 20, recognizing the need for quality programs. After school programs keep kids safe, help working families and inspire learning.
The After School for All: Project 2010 supports the vision that all children and youth deserve access to quality, affordable after school programs by the year 2010. This project is being organized by the Afterschool Alliance to show how many Americans think after school programs are vital.
